Time is an important element in human life. In the business world, it is said that time is money while in the Christendom time is said to be life. Every employer of labour pays for the time of his employee that is to say there is an exchange of time for money, which invariably means that a portion of ones life is exchanged for money. The higher the value placed on an individual’s time, the bigger the pay or wages paid.
There is however another aspect of time, which is sequence of event. This refers to the normal twenty-four hours circle of the day. This time can either be in the past, present, or future. The occurrence of event, which is to say the period of any action occurring. This time is the same for everybody whether rich, average or poor. We all have equal
portion of twenty-four hours, it now depends on what each one does with his own. Time is an asset, which must be invested, while wise men invest theirs, foolish people spend their time. Time must at all point in time be invested and not spent. This is because time is a consumable which when consumed cannot be retrieved.
Further still there is another form of time, called the “appointed time”. This has nothing to do with the sequence of time; it is a “set time” for an event or series of event to occur. The set time is a time, which need no human effort for an event to come. Mostly, when the appointed time comes, it is majorly supernatural that need no human effort or assistance for the set event to occur. Appointed time most cases when it comes always overrule the natural or normal
laws of nature to occur. When the set time or appointed time come, most times it overrules the principle of faith, that is to say whether the person in question has faith or otherwise, it does not make any difference whatsoever the event is bound to occur. Please note also that all good and perfect gifts comesfrom above hence whatever will occur must of necessity be positive for a child of God because God has no evil or bad thing kept for any of His children. Just like
Paul said in Galatians 1:15. “But when it please God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me
through His grace. This was indeed Paul’s set time, when it please God, with or without faith, the appointed time who due and thus he got his salvation on the road to Damascus when Jesus met with him.
Dan 9:2 reads in the first year of his reign I, Daniel understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord, given through Jeremiah the prophets that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolation of Jerusalem.
The children of Israel were to be in a land of desolation and serve the king of Babylon for seventy years as recorded in Jer:25:11. However Daniel was able to know that the appointed time for their freedom had come when He went through the books via the record of Jeremiah that after seventy years in the Land of Babylon they ought to be free” Hence Daniel began to seek the face of God concerning their freedom as the appointed time had come after the seven years.
Then Ezra 1: reads `Now, in the first year of King of Persia, that the word of the Lord spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus the King of Persia so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom….
Please note that before now, the spirit of Cyrus was not stirred up to do this but immediately it was the appointed time, his spirit was stirred. Without the set time, no matter the
amount of prayers prayed on the particular issue as it relates to their freedom may not really make a difference.
Galatians 4.4 reads `But when the fullness of the time had come God sent forth His son, born of a woman, born under the law. Jesus Christ came at the fullness of time that is to say the appointed time.
Friends many times we have made request from God without making effort to know and understand the time if it was right or otherwise. As we talk with God, we must endeavour to understand Him in the dimension of time or else we may be applying effort or pressure in the wrong direction. Why don’t you set out a day or two apart to know the mind of God on that unresolved issue? You may need to look at the issue of appointed time in times like this. This is not to say, you are to throw away your faith, no, no, no, but you need to understand Gods timing on the various issues of life. Shalom!
