Our God is great, rich and very successful; infact He owns the cattles on ten thousand hills. He owns the earth and everything in it. He said, Silver is mine and Gold is mine. He said further that if He was hungry he would not consult anyone of us. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. He is so great that when He sit in the heavens; He makes the whole earth as His footstool, can you imagine how great this our God is, to sit in the heavens and then makes the whole earth His Footstool. Imagine how big his legs will be. He is also a very successful God. He created the heavens and the earth; He placed everything where it ought to be, separated between the night and the day, the waters and the land. Created the wildlife, and plant and eventually created man in His own image and likeness. How awesome our God is.
Beloved, if we have a father who has all these qualities, then we His children must not see these various qualities of our father as strange to us if they are evident in our lives. It should be like father like son. If we have great rich and successful father, then such should not be strange to us. It should be normal. That is why God said in III John 2: beloved I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. God’s desire for us all is to prosper.
However, quite unfortunate many of God’s children have not being able to manage this exalted position God has put us in, basically because we forget that we are what we are by the grace of the Lord, refusing to acknowledge that a man can receive nothing except he be given from above. For all good and perfect gifts comes from above. Without the understanding of these basic knowledge, the devil comes in subtly to highlight before us all the things that our father has put in our care as care-taker suggesting to us that it is by our own strength, wisdom or power we have gotten to this position.
If care is not taken sooner than later, we begin to have an exaggerated opinion of ourselves, preferring ourselves above others, believing that it is because others are not as skillful or smart as we are hence they are not getting the desired result they ought to get, forgetting that it is not of him that wills nor of him that runs but it is of God that shows mercy. Without the mercy and Grace of God we are like the beast of the field that perishes.
In view of this, that silent killer called Pride creeps in. The bible says God resist the proud and gives grace to the humble. Just like we resist the devil and he flees from us so also God resists anyone who lives in pride. No proud person will ever be the friend of God. Satan formally known as Lucifer lost out of heaven because he allowed pride to enter him. Isaiah 14:12-15 recalls how he fell from his exalted position to the lowest depths of the pit. When pride entered him he said, I will ascend above the heights of the cloud, I will be like the Most High, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the furtherest sides of the North. All this Lucifer said because he allowed pride. He forgot he was a creature of God. The “I” in him became too strong. He forgot he was what he was by the grace of God. He fell greatly never to recover that position again. My dearly beloved, please don’t allow pride to come into your life as God introduces His nature of greatness and success into you.
