What a wonderful day when Jesus paid the price fully. If the devil knew what the outcome of its action would be, he would not have acted the way he did through the scribes and the leaders of law.
The story however started at the Garden of Eden when man fell as a result of Eve being deceived by the serpent (Satan) and Adam’s voluntary disobedience to God by heeding to the advice of his woman-Eve.
Ever since, a debt has been created which no perfect payment could redeem. As a result of the fall of man, sin and its consequences came into the world. Satan took over the control of the world system. Satan became the god of the world and ever since, sicknesses, pains, barrenness, working with little or no result to show for work done, stagnancy, backwardness, disappointment to mention but a few came in to play in the life of man.
Man lost dominion over all that he had at the beginning. Man lost even his dominion over his own soul to the point that the things he loved to do, he found himself not doing and the things he hated to do, he found himself doing.
All this coupled with condemnation that led to frustration came into the life of Man. In the beginning it was not so for God saw that all He created was good. Certainly, a price must be paid to free man from this terrible circle. A price that is blood tagged. Since the life of an animal is in its blood so it will take life to save life, hence it will take blood to save life.
An option was given, the blood of goat and bull to take away sins which is the cause of the vicious circle of death. The blood of bulls and goats could only cover sin but not blot out sin. It could only cover sin and leave one with condemnation. It was not a perfect sacrifice but the blood of Jesus is suitable and adequate to cleanse, ones and for all. The sacrifice of goats and bulls are always at a cost to man because it has to be done over and over again for the remission of sin.
Aside from this, there is need for a clean and pure blood to be able to cleanse man from this fallen state. In view of the fact that God can not be trapped in a corner, at the fullness of time God came in Human flesh to redeem mankind. The Word that was at the beginning came in flesh to redeem mankind. When he came, he came to pay the price fully without leaving out any aspect of man out.
The journey commenced from the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus went to pray for strength to be able to withstand the weight and the humiliation the world had to offer. He prayed to the extent that the sweat that
came out from Him was like droplet of blood. Shortly after He finished praying, the crowd who had always praised Him singing hosanna in the highest began to sing the song, crucify Him, crucify Him.
This was possible because it was time for the Son of Man to be lifted up as a sacrifice for the sins of man. The journey to redemption then began. He was slapped and stripped naked so that you and I could be clothed forever. He was crowned with thorns so that the curse place on the ground by God saying in Gen 3:17b-19, that cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground. This curse was redeemed by the thorns that was laid on the head of Jesus Christ. He had many stripes and by those stripes we were healed.
He was nailed on the cross so that He could redeem us from the curse of the law for it is written that cursed is any man that is hung of the tree. He redeemed us from the curse of the law; hence we cannot be cursed for the blessing of God is upon us. Beloved above all, He shed His blood, for the redemption of mankind so that we could be saved forever from the power and the hold of sin. No more guilt. Jesus paid the price fully. The price was fully paid once and for all. Never to be under the guilt of sin again.
Beloved as we celebrate in this Easter period, let us all have it in mind that Jesus paid the price fully. This is the bed rock of Christianity; we are saved and saved forever. The sacrifice is made ones and for all. Jesus did not only die but He rose from the death on the three day and gave us all dominion over principalities and powers. We got the authority as He rose from the dead because He gave it to you and I. The price was fully paid. Shalom
